Representation at Higher Levels Lagging

Although the numbers of minority and female federal employees are generally in line or above the overall workforce, representation in the highest levels of government is far below the broad totals. At senior pay levels, blacks constitute just 7 percent, Hispanics, 3.5 percent, Asians and Pacific Islanders 2.7 percent, Native Americans, 0.9 percent, and women 26.5 percent.
