In the House, also due to term limit restrictions, Rep. Bill Young, R-Fla., will have to give up the
Appropriations Committee, which also was supportive of higher federal raises under his leadership. His
replacement has not yet been determined. Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., will remain as chair of the Government
Reform committee, although the panel will have to appoint a new chairman of the civil service
subcommittee, which Rep. JoAnn Davis vacated several months ago to take an Intelligence Committee post.
One option that has been mentioned is combining the subcommittee with another or elevating its
responsibilities to the full committee level with perhaps a less formal task force handling civil service
matters.
