Effective yesterday (April 15), civilian employees of DoD and the Coast Guard are eligible for the TSA’s Pre-Check expedited screening program, which is available at more than 100 airports. Under Pre-Check, travelers may use certain designated screening lanes where they need not take off shoes, light outerwear or belts, can keep a laptop computer in its case and may have certain liquids and gels in a carry-on bag. Expedited screening is not guaranteed, however, and all travelers remain subject to random security measures. Employees wishing to participate must opt in to the program at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect under “My Profile.” Active duty personnel previously were made eligible through a data-sharing agreement between DoD and TSA that has now been extended to civilian personnel.
