Special Rate Case Reminder

Individuals who are members of the “special rate” back pay settlement class have until October 27 to either accept or challenge the payments calculated for them. For employees accepting the amounts, payments could start by the end of this year. Payments likely will be made in two phases, with 80 percent of the amount being paid in the first go-around and the remainder held back until challenges are resolved. Challenge rights are limited; individuals may not challenge the overall formula used but only the specific data applying to them, such as the dates in a position, grade level, occupation, location, agency and retirement date, if applicable. Filing a challenge also will mean that the individual will have to wait until the challenges are resolved before receiving any payment. The settlement administrator can be contacted at P.O.
