Although some deadlines have passed in the settlement of the long-running suit over back pay for certain “special rate” employees, one deadline in the case still lies ahead, next Wednesday (October 27). That’s the last day that class members, or their successors, who have not filed a claim form may do so. No distributions will be made to them until the final distribution, which could be next year. Class members or their survivors who filed claims by October 27, 2003 and who did not challenge the amounts calculated for them were eligible for the initial distribution that was made late in 2003 that represented about 80 percent of the amounts deemed due to them. The final distribution will be made after resolution of challenges; decisions in those challenges are starting to come out. The deadline for submitting a challenge or submitting a claim for class membership was last October 27. The settlement administrator can be reached at P.O. Box 4068, Portland, Ore., 97208-4068, phone (800) 750-3406.
