Telecommuting Also an Issue

Language in the Commerce-Justice-State spending bill that could be extended to other agencies through other appropriations bills as the budget process progresses seeks to put more teeth into prior laws designed to encourage more telecommuting by federal employees. One earlier law required agencies to assess over four years which of their positions could be done by teleworking; while the number of positions deemed eligible has increased as a result, the actual rate of teleworking has remained flat.
