Charges of travel card misuse can fall under failure to follow written instructions, conduct unbecoming a federal employee, or misuse of a governmental travel charge card, the guidance says. “Failure to follow written instructions is most preferred especially if a written agreement exists that specifies that the card be for official use only. Successful punishments for misuse of the card include dismissals, suspensions, formal counseling, alternative discipline, referrals to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Office for counseling, and formal reprimands,” it says.
