Legislation (S-2628) that has cleared the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee would make the most significant changes in many years in law protecting federal employees against retaliation for whistleblowing. Under the bill, a whistleblower would be able to bring a case before the Merit Systems Protection Board on an expedited basis when the employing agency revokes, suspends, denies, or makes another determination in relation to an employee’s security clearance or access to classified materials.
