The House Government Reform Committee has scheduled a hearing for February 14 to examine whistleblowing rights and protections among employees in national security positions. In general, employees in security positions are not covered by the whistleblower protections applying to federal employees in general, although they do have certain rights under a separate law. Whistleblower advocacy groups assert that those protections are inadequate and that employees of security agencies often are subject to retaliation including security clearance revocations that can stall or end their federal careers.
