I am a former Special Agent with the FBI with 13 years of service. I can now draw a deferred annuity under FERS but I am not sure if my calculation will be based on 1% or 1.7% (Special Law Enforcement Rate) of my high 3 years of service. Do I qualify for a special FERS LEO rate? RESOLVED

Unfortunately not. In order to collect the enhanced computation, you need to have the full 20 years of LEO service AND retire on an immediate annuity. In other words, had you served the full 20 LEO years but left before age 50, your annuity would be computed at the 1% rate. Now, if you go back to work for the federal government and work the additional 7 years of LEO service in a primary position, then you can collect a full enhanced retirement. Blocked by moderator
