Retired under VERA with full annuity and will be at MRA in Apr 2019. Does the retirement supplement kick in automatically or do I need to contact SSA to initiate it? Blocked by moderator

The FERS Retiree Annuity supplement is part of your FERS retirement and is not paid by the Social Security Adminustration. Technically, OPM knows you are entitled to the supplement and when you will reach your MRA so it should be automatic. However, and I speak from personal experience, sometimes it falls through the cracks, so when you get closer to your MRA, contact them to remind them your are approaching your MRA and your supplement needs to kick in “soon.’ Good luck!
