FEHB vs TRICARE and the 5-year rule

If I presently have TRICARE and I sign up for FEHB, do I have to wait the full 5 years before I can retire with FEHB benefits? Or another way, with FEHB benefits active when I retire, will having been in TRICARE complete the 5 year requirement to carry FEHB into retirement?

TRICARE is qualifying for meeting the five year rule as long as you have FEHB on the day you retire. So to be sure I am being clear, you had TRICARE and last open season, 2020 open season, you signed up for FEHB and are currently enrolled, and you retire today, you can take FEHB into retirement because combined TRICARE and FEHB enrollments were 5 or more years.
