I will be 61 on 12/24/22 and would like to start my FERS deferred annuity.

I realize I will take a 5% reduction for being under 62. Would I see my first COLA in January 2024 or January 2025?

Since your birthday is in December, you will be eligible for the 12/01/2024 COLA which will be reflected on your 01/01/2025 check.

I am also 61 and starting my Postponed retirement this year. Our situations looked very similar. May I ask how long did the entire process take in your case from mailing the application in to receiving annuity? And when did you get the CSA very soon? I am anxiously waiting for mine to come. Thank you.
