Is there any lump sum payment or benefit for survivors of FERS annuitant that retired under disability? Im confused as to what if anything happens to a pension after death? Does it just end?

If an individual retired under FERS, they were required to make an election with respect to leaving a survivor benefit in the event of their death. If they elected a survivor benefit, the survivor would be entitled to a monthly benefit upon death the retiree. This would be in addition to any life insurance, if any, they had.
