Your children may have to file tax returns this year, from earnings or from investment income. If that’s the case, have them prepare their own returns–it’s an effective way of teaching them some of the harsh realities they’ll face as adults.
Of course, check over their work or run it by your tax preparer before submitting those returns to the IRS.
