Chances are that your aging parent or parents prefer staying at home than moving into an institution. In such cases your parents may need a great deal of home care so you’ll have to screen applicants carefully: don’t take chances with having strangers in your parents’ home. Even if aides come from an agency, ongoing monitoring is necessary because some agencies may have lower standards than you’d like.
Beyond health aides, caution should be exercised about anyone who’ll provide in-home services for your parents. You may have to interview and hire house cleaners or people who’ll be driving your parents around. Do all the checking you can to keep your parents from being ripped off.
