Dependent unmarried children age 23 and younger of service members who died while on active duty, or of retirees who died while collecting retirement pay, are eligible to apply for scholarships to offset tuition, fees, and book costs, under the Scholarships for Military Children Program. Each commissary will award at least one $1,500 scholarship to eligible students who maintain high school and college grade point averages of at least 3.0. All applicants, as well as their sponsors, must be enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility System (DEERS). Other rules apply.
