Release of the proposed 2010 defense budget, normally submitted to Congress in early February, will be delayed perhaps until April while the Obama administration reviews it, the White House and Defense Department announced Jan. 26. In the meantime, the White House Office of Management and Budget plans to submit budget guidance to DoD "shortly," so that they can begin working on it in anticipation of receiving the actual budget request. Officials say OMB may submit a "topline" budget to DoD before April. It would not contain all the details of the final proposal.
