The Affordable Care Act, which expands health-care coverage to all U.S. citizens, will have little or no effect on TRICARE beneficiaries, the Defense Department stated. All TRICARE beneficiaries – whether or not they are subject to copayments, enrollment fees, or monthly premiums – automatically meet standards set by the new law. Each year, TRICARE will send a form to beneficiaries that would provide the information they need to fulfill IRS requirements as stipulated by the law. Beneficiaries then can use the information when they file their federal income tax returns.
