The Active Army reported 38,918 new accessions through June for fiscal year 2015, which began last Oct. 1. The total fell short of its goal by 4,696. The Army National Guard also missed its goal of 43,614, reporting 38,918 new accessions. The Army Reserve slightly exceeded its goal, reporting 20,897 accessions. The active and reserve components of the other three services all either met or exceeded recruiting goals. The active Navy reported 25,380, while the Navy Reserve reported 4,042. The active Air Force reported 17,495 new accessions, while the Air National Guard had 6,810 and the Air Force Reserve reported 5,213. The active Marine Corps reported 21,025 new accessions, while the Marine Corps Reserve reported 5,995. Retention remained strong for all the services. The current trends are expected to continue, according to the Pentagon.
