The armed forces’ active-duty components met or exceeded their November recruiting goals, the Defense Department announced Dec. 14. The Army enlisted 7,063 new soldiers, ahead of its goal of 6,858, while the Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps met their goals with 3,291 new sailors, 2,894 airmen, and 1,789 Marines respectively. The Army and Air National Guard fell short, though, drawing in 3,335 new soldiers and 534 new airmen, short of the respective goals of 4,322 and 534. The Army Reserve drew in 2,741 new accessions, ahead of a goal of 2,009; the Navy Reserve attracted 631 new members, ahead of a goal of 597; the Air Force Reserve signed up 758 new members, ahead of a goal of 457; and the Marine Corps Reserve enlisted 727 new members, ahead of its goal of 579.
