The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps all met June recruiting goals for their active-duty components. The Marines led the way by adding 4,155 new recruits, 14 percent higher than the goal for the month of 3,655. The Army added 6,207 recruits; the Navy, 3,428; the Air Force, 2,846. Of the reserve components, only the Army Guard fell short – recruiting 3,209 new solders, or 84 percent of its goal. The Army Reserve enlisted 726 new soldiers; the Air Guard, 867 new airmen; the Air Reserve, 836; and the Navy Reserve, 726 new sailors. The Marine Corps Reserve added more than 1,200 enlistees, better than double its monthly goal of 565.
