Airmen who retire permanently for disability with less than 20 years of active service will now be allowed to receive retirement certificates, under a recent change to the service’s retirement policy. Previously, only airmen who served for 20 years or longer qualified for the certificate, Department of Defense Form 363AF. The change recognizes the good service of airmen who were wounded, or became ill or seriously injured, while on active duty. Also under the change, spouses of permanently disabled retirees are eligible to receive the Certificate of Appreciation (Air Force Form 1344).
