AF Approves New Informal Uniform

Now that Air Force officials have given their final approval, airmen can begin wearing the new informal uniform. All airmen will be required to wear the new uniform by Jan. 1, 2011. It features a dark blue long- or short-sleeved shirt with "US Air Force" on the upper left chest, a brushed silver name tags bearing the wearer’s name and rank, pleated khaki slacks, a black belt with silver clasp, plain black business or athletic shoes with black socks, and a dark blue watch cap or baseball cap bearing the "USAF" logo (for outdoor wear only). Airmen in some specific career fields will also be authorized to wear a white monogram on the left sleeve, identifying that specialty.
