Deployed airmen and their families will have greater access to free child-care hours. As of April, each airman will be eligible for 16 hours of pre-deployment, deployment or remote assignment, and post-deployment care per child. The increase amounts to a total of 48 hours for these periods.
Airmen must meet certain criteria to qualify. They must:

•     Be either on active duty, or on active status with the reserve or National Guard.
•     Be assigned to or working on an installation.
•     Deployed in support of a contingency operation.
•     Deployed for at least 30 calendar days, or routinely deployed on a short-term basis.

“This expanded care program will give our airmen peace of mind that their families are taken care of throughout the deployment and remote assignment process. This will certainly enhance readiness and help our airmen’s resiliency so they can better concentrate on executing their mission,” said Col. Donna Turner, Air Force Services Activity commander.
Airmen can apply by completing a Family Child Care (FCC) Request, available at child-care offices, once they receive orders, until 60 days after they return from deployment.
