An Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft departed Dover Air Force Base to deliver relief supplies and assistance teams to Nepal, in the aftermath of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the country April 26. The plane carried 45 square tons of cargo and 70 people – including a disaster-response team from the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Fairfax County (Va.) Urban Search and Rescue Team, and several journalists, according to the Defense Department. Some 26 U.S. service members were in Nepal when the quake hit. All are safe, the Pentagon said.
