Some Air Force non-commissioned officers who have between 15 and 19 years of service through Sept. 30 could be eligible for early retirement, under a new program the service is offering. Eligible candidates must be between the ranks of staff sergeant and master sergeant inclusive, and in overstaffed career fields. The Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA) window will remain open April 10-30; applications will be processed after the window closes. Those selected for early retirement must retire by Sept. 1. Airmen who are approved for the early retirement will see their retired pay reduced by 1/12th of 1 percent for each full month by which the number of months of active service is less than 240, as of the date of retirement.
