With his March 6 appearance on the game show "Jeopardy," Capt. Timothy Bobinski, an F-15 pilot stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, fulfilled a lifelong dream. "I’ve watched the show occasionally since I was a kid," said Bobinski, originally from South Milwaukee, Wis., the chief of safety for the 19th Fighter Squadron. That interest led to participation on his high school quiz team. When "Jeopardy" sent a crew to test potential contestants, Bobinski successfully emerged from a group of 300. He found out a few months later he was chosen to appear on the show, and traveled to Los Angeles for taping in November. Speaking before the show aired, Bobinski would not reveal how he fared. He did say, however, that initial jitters vanished once the contest started. "The pace is fast enough that you almost forget that you’re being taped for national TV," he said. During breaks, host Alex Trebek – an aviation buff – asked him questions about flying.
