AF Releases Information on Race

According to the most recent survey statistics, made available on May 29, 73.7 percent of the 323,889 members of the Air Force are white. African-American or black persons account for 14.7 percent of all airmen; 2.5 percent are Asian; 0.9 percent are Hawaiian or Pacific Islander; 0.6 percent are American Indian or native Alaskan, and 1.8 percent consider themselves to be of more than one ethnic category. Another 5.8 percent declined to report their race. The statistics, which are current as of April 30, can be viewed on the Air Force Personnel Center’s Web site at http://www.afpc.randolph.af.mil/.
