The Spouse Tuition Assistance Program (STAP) for overseas families is part of the Air Force Aid Society, which provides funding for Airmen and families for education, emergency leave, child care for PCS, scholarship programs and more. Under STAP, spouses are allotted up to 50 percent of tuition or a maximum of $300 per term if they attend one of the universities or colleges that are contracted with the program. An undergraduate student receiving funding must earn a grade of C or better and a graduate student in the program must attain a B or better. Students who fail to reach the required grade levels must return the STAP payments to the Air Force. Funding from the program is distributed to enlisted spouses first and officer spouses second. Applicants who are working on their associate’s or bachelor’s degrees get first priority.
