The Air Force will provide legal assistance to victims of sexual assault, the service announced earlier this month. The service plans to provide 60 attorneys nationwide, who are specifically trained in military justice and motivated to help sexual-assault victims. The Air Force plans to begin offering the legal assistance in existing legal offices by Jan. 28. In the near future, the service will stand up an independent organization geared toward helping sexual-assault victims, patterned after the service’s area defense counsel program. The service then will assess progress of the program and refine its services accordingly.
