African-American Woman Nominated for Brigadier General

The Marine Corps is on its way to having its first female African-American general. Col. Lorna Mahlock, the deputy director of Operations, Plans, Policies, and Operations Directorate at Headquarters Marine Corps in Washington, D.C., was nominated last month for the promotion. The nomination is now pending congressional approval.
