The Air Force is offering direct commissions to reservists who would serve in the cyber security and cyberspace warfare operations career fields.
“As our nation faces tough challenges in the cyberspace warfighting domain, the Air Force Reserve needs the best talent America has to offer,” said Brig. Gen. Terrence Adams, deputy principal cyber advisor to the Secretary of Defense, during a recent speech.
Requirements include a security clearance and demonstrable leadership ability. Holders of advanced degrees in software engineering and development systems engineering, the electrical engineering-related disciplines, data science and analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital forensics, and interdisciplinary computer and cyber each could factor favorably for candidates. Likewise, work experience and specialized training in these fields and others that are closely related are desirable.
Successful candidates would incur a minimum eight-year military service obligation and remain in the selected reserve for a full four-year commitment.
