U.S. aircraft hit targets in Libya during a Nov. 13 air raid, aimed at killing Abu Nadil, the leader of al Qaida and the Islamic State there. “Nabil’s death will degrade ISIL’s [the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s] ability to meet the group’s objectives in Libya, including recruiting new ISIL members, establishing bases in Libya, and planning external attacks on the United States,” the Pentagon said in a prepared statement.
