More than 150 airmen were made to “step out of their comfort zone,” and demonstrate their collective and individual ability to perform other critical missions, during a recent training exercise.
During the exercise, the airmen conducted flight line maintenance and operations, security, communications, and other critical tasks. The exercise took place at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., with forward-deployed operations at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., and Avon Park Air Force Range, Fla.
“If we are in the Pacific or Europe, or operating in a hostile or denied environment, how would we be able to leverage the support forces to refuel and re-arm jets? That was the challenge,” said Brig. Gen. Brian Bruckbauer, director of expeditionary support for the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center, who oversaw the exercise. Another similar exercise will take place at Tyndall in November.
