Marines soon will travel in vehicles designed to resist improvised explosive devices more effectively. Mine Resistant Ambush Protection Buffalo vehicles should be outfitted wit the upgrades beginning this month. Improvements include a powered rear-door assist mechanism, which will enable crews and passengers to evacuate vehicles quicker – particularly on uneven terrains or in the event of a rollover. The door also has a hand-crank mechanism, should the power-assist system fail.
