The Army’s chief spokesman lashed out a rebuttal to a recent People Magazine story that had alleged the service’s recent Ranger course, in which two women graduated, was rigged. “It is pure fiction,” Brig. Gen. Malcolm B. Frost said of the People story, which had claimed that the Army was determined to allow the female candidates to recycle through the training until they passed. Frost asserted in a Sept. 25 statement that the story contained two other false pieces of information: that female candidates were allowed to practice on the school’s navigation course before male candidates saw it for the first time; and that an Army general gathered the female candidates and told them they would not be allowed to finish the course.
