The 36th Division Headquarters, Texas Army National Guard, and the 197th Fires Brigade, New Hampshire Army National Guard, have been selected to replace units due to rotate out of Iraq. The movement of roughly 3,600 soldiers into the theater will not increase overall strength levels in Iraq, the Army says. The Texas unit, some 600 strong, will support command, control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions conducted by Iraqi troops. The New Hampshire soldiers will operate out of Kuwait as a security task force for movements between the two countries. Their deployments will take place beginning this fall, and continue through early next year.
