Soldiers will be allowed to mix different pieces of their Army Combat Uniform (ACU) to ensure they are protected from wet and cold weather. “Any item issued from the CIF [clothing issue facility] is permitted to wear,” said Sgt. Maj. Eva M. Commons, the uniform policy sergeant major with Army G-1. The combinations can include components from their organization clothing and individual equipment (OCIE), and their Extended Cold Weather Clothing System, which uses the Uniform Camouflage Pattern (UCP). Soldiers still must wear T-shirts with their ACUs. And while boots, belts and T-shirts can be worn in any combination, boots must match each other.
