The Overseas Tour Extension Incentive Program was updated Oct. 19 for certain soldiers who extend their overseas tours 12 months or more. The changes apply to soldiers in selected military occupational specialties (MOSs) who are stationed in Germany, South Korea, Okinawa, Japan, Guam, Saipan and Samoa. Excluded are members of the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Soldiers who meet the MOS requirements and who extended their overseas tours Oct. 19 or later are eligible for one of four options: A — special pay of $80 per month during the period of the extension; B — 30 days of nonchargeable leave; C — 15 days of nonchargeable leave and free transportation for the soldier (but not family members) to the nearest stateside port, or an alternate port which costs no more than the nearest; and D — a $2,000 annual lump-sum bonus.
