The Army is embarking on an effort to assess quality of life on three major installations — Fort Polk, La., Fort Wainwright, Alaska, and Fort Irwin, Calif. The Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) reported Dec. 17 that the effort would examine ways to address readiness and morale issues, and improve services to the soldiers and families who live at the three installations. Housing, child care, youth service and spouse employment will be addressed in the assessment, for which the service has not set a specific deadline for completion.
