Soldiers who want to reenlist will find a smaller palate of incentives. Because the service is enjoying a productive recruiting and retention stretch, it will offer fewer reenlistment bonuses, and reduce the number of military occupational specialties eligible for selective reenlistment bonuses. Soldiers who reenlist between June 27 and Sept. 30, the end of fiscal 2009, may be limited to two-year enlistments. The current-station stabilization reenlistment, Army training reenlistment, overseas assignment reenlistment, and CONUS station-of-choice reenlistment are all suspended until Oct. 1, when fiscal year 2010 begins. On that date, the Army plans to reinstate all regular reenlistment options. There are some exemptions. For example, the limits on reenlistments do not apply to soldiers returning from Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom deployments. Personnel officials can provide more details.
