The House Veterans Affairs Committee will consider a measure introduced July 14 by its chairman, Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., that would allow the Department of Veterans Affairs to recoup performance bonuses paid to VA employees. Miller offered the measure, H.R. 5094, after it became public that the troubled agency paid out more than $380,000 in cash bonuses to executive at 38 VA medical-treatment facilities facing probes for allegedly delaying treatment of sick veterans.
