Reflecting concerns about the Army’s plans to restructure the force, lawmakers on Capitol Hill introduced legislation that would require further study before any such changes occur. At the center of the looming debate is the future role of the National Guard, which stands to lose more than 6,000 personnel under the Army’s Total Force Policy plans. “We must take our time and examine the issue to make sure that our Army and our soldiers remain the best in the world,” said Rep. Joe Wilson, sponsor of H.R. 3930, now pending before the House Armed Services Committee.
