Disabled children of service members would be eligible for long-term care without sacrificing their eligibility for Medicaid and Social Security disability assistance, under a measure now pending before the House Armed Services Committee. Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., introduced H.R. 4329 April 6. Another provision would allow military retirees to transfer Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) benefits to a special-needs trust, from which disabled dependents could draw upon after the retiree sponsor’s death.
