The Army and Marine Corps identified the four soldiers and seven Marines who died when their UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter crashed during a March 10 training accident. Chief Warrant Officer 4 George Wayne Griffin Jr., 37, of Delhi, La., Chief Warrant Officer 4 George David Strother, 44, of Alexandria, La., Staff Sgt. Lance Bergeron, 40, of Thibodeaux, La., and Staff Sgt. Thomas Florich, 26, of Fairfax, Va., were members of the 1st Assault Helicopter Battalion, 244th Aviation Regiment, Louisiana Army National Guard. Staff Sgt. Andrew Seif, 26, of Holland, Mich., Staff Sgt. Kerry Kemp, 27, of Port Washington, Wis., Staff Sgt. Liam A. Flynn, 33, of Queens, N.Y., Staff Sgt. Trevor P. Blaylock, 29, of Lake Orion, Mich., Staff Sgt. Marcus Bawol, 26, of Warren, Mich., Master Sgt. Thomas Saunders, 33, of Williamsburg, Va., and Capt. Stanford Henry Shaw III, of Basking Ridge, N.J., all were attached to U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command. The aircraft went down near Eglin, Fla. The incident is under investigation. Only days before the crash, Seif was awarded the Silver Star medal for trying to save the life of a mortally wounded comrade during combat operations in Afghanistan.
