President Bush signed a $162 billion supplemental bill on June 30 that will enable the military to continue combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. The measure also improves GI Bill education benefits by allowing service members to transfer the money to family members in some cases. Other provisions include a $465 million plan to forge partnerships with Mexico and Central American nations, intent on combating drug-trafficking, and $2.7 billion to aid victims of tornadoes and flooding in the Midwest.
