Veterans who make slight mistakes on their applications for small-business help now can correct them before the Department of Veterans Affairs rejects them. Beginning May 1, the VA will provide preliminary findings to applicants for the agency’s "Veterans First" contracts, which ascertain veteran ownership of businesses. When the findings determine mistakes are made, applicants have 48 hours to correct them. With fewer overall rejections, the VA intends to trim the initial determination times below the present average of 46 days.
