Troops attached to U.S. Central Command who are serving overseas will receive commercial airline tickets to travel to rest and recuperation (R&R), the Pentagon announced March 29. The relaxed travel option means troops no longer will have to fly via charter flights to Atlanta or Dallas from Kuwait. Eligibility requirements remain unchanged. To qualify, service members or civilian employees must be serving in at least a 12-month overseas tour, with at least 270 days on the ground. CENTCOM’s area of operation stretches from Egypt to Afghanistan.
