Charleston, S.C., will be the homeport of the Coast Guard’s newest national security cutter. The service announced that the ship would join the cutters James and Hamilton in Charleston, once it is built. Construction is scheduled to begin next spring at Huntington-Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Miss., with delivery slated for sometime in 2024.
